We're incredibly proud that the Nimitz PTA can sponsor our art program for all Nimitz students. Additionally, the PTA funds Recess 101, our multicultural festival, assemblies, purchasing library books, and teacher & classroom supplies. Nimitz PTA wants to make sure we can continue to offer these programs, in addition to the fun social and family events for our community.

Walk-A-Thon Goals:

Raise $20,000

Walk/run a combined total of 3,500 laps

Participation Prize Opportunities

Each class will have a 30-min walk/run time-slot during the school day
- After each class's walk-a-thon slot, Nimitz PTA is providing all students with an Otter Pop!
Students in grades 1 to 5 can also choose to walk/run during their lunch time
Students can earn lanyard beads for each lap and a special bead for every 5 laps they walk/run!
If we hit the school goal of 3,500 laps, the whole school will get an extra long lunch recess.

Class Fundraising Prize Opportunities

We are asking every student to participate in fundraising for the Walk-a-thon
Classes with at least 75% of the class makes a donation of any amount, the entire class will receive a short class party later this spring.
- Class parties options may include:
  - Glow dance party in the GLC
  - PE games party
  - Board game party
  - Kahoot party
  - Movie / pajama party

Our Walk-a-Thon will continue after school, too! Families are invited to join us at Nimitz from 2:15pm - 6pm for:

Walking/Running Laps
Food for purchase
Carnival Games (from 4pm - 6pm)

We have lots of fun in store for the kids and we are hoping to raise the necessary funds to keep our amazing art and Recess 101 programs, as well as funding assemblies, and other academic and social opportunities here at Nimitz!

Volunteers Needed!

If you are interested in volunteering to help during the Walk-a-thon, we have spots available both during and after school.
You can help students with lap beads, punch souvenir lap cards, or count laps.

Adult Volunteers for Walk-a-thon

We could also use high school volunteers, especially to help us run our carnival. If you know of any students looking for volunteer hours, please have them sign up to help.
